A note of appreciation to everyone who helped compile and type this
history of pictures, facts, information and remembrances of things
past. Especially helpful was Mabel Trevathan Smyth who let us borrow
to be copied most of the pictures here. They are from her family
album which were photographed, developed and printed by her father,
the late Albert Trevathan.
Also, we would like to thank Ellis and Rosa Trevathan for funding our
pictorial history of Gleason to be presented to our local library.
The negatives of all these pictures will also be on file in the
State Library and Archives in Nashville in a temperature controlled
vault for all time in order to preserve our history.
This "Gleason History" is not based on legal documents but mostly on
memories of local people, on some old newspapers, and bits and
pieces of information from various sources. It is written solely for
the purpose of preserving our Gleason Heritage as best we could for
the love of our town so the future generations may know and love it
as we do.
